Every so often I am reminded of what I wanted to make films about/for children. Last night I had the honour of sitting smack in the middle, front row, dress circle of the Cambridge Theatre, in London, to watch Matilda the Musical based on the book by Roald Dahl.
It was by far the best show I have ever seen in my entire life. It was amazing, there was dancing, singing, flinging of kids by their pig tails (yes they actually flung a girl by her pig tails). The kids were brilliant and needless to say I was wiping away my tears as the subject matter was just moving. For those who've seen the film, this is ten times better and that's saying a lot as the Danny Devito film is brilliant. The action never stopped and I do hope the seats stay full for many years to come.
It was a nice refresher into my own little world of proper children's entertainment. The show is great for kids and adults alike, see trailer below.
